The Indominus Rex was a genetically engineered hybrid dinosaur, created by InGen for Jurassic World. Seeing that public interest in the animals brought back to life through De-Extinction was in decline, Simon Masrani and Claire Dearing authorised the creation of a hybrid with desirable features. Before being put on public display it broke out of containment and was largely responsible for the 2015 Jurassic World Incident which result in many deaths and the abandonment of Jurassic World.

It's DNA would later be recovered by the Lockwood Foundation from the Jurassic World Lagoon and used to create the Indoraptor, a dinosaur with militarised intent.

Biography

Whilst ticket sales for Jurassic World continued to rise year on year, operating costs for the park were also rising at a less than ideal rate. Seeing that public interest and amazement in the return of De-Extinct dinosaurs had begun to plateau, Simon Masrani and Claire Dearing authorised the creation of the Indominus Rex, a hybrid dinosaur combining desirable features from their most popular species. In his memo to Henry Wu, Masrani detailed that the hybrid should be 'Bigger', 'Scarier' and 'Cooler'.
