The Staff Jeep was the primary mode of travel for the employees of Jurassic Park at Isla Nublar when working out in the Park. A fleet of Jeeps were in service at the Park in 1992 during the Jurassic Park Incident. They were left to rust with the rest of the park until they were rediscovered in 2015, during the Jurassic World Incident by Zach and Gray Mitchell.

History

The Jurassic Park Incident

JP 18 and JP 29 greeted the Inspection Team upon their arrival at the Helipad on Isla Nublar. Driven by Jurassic Park Employees, Grant, Sattler and Malcolm took the first Jeep, whilst Gennaro and Hammond took the second.

The Jurassic World Incident

Legacy

In 2018, a pair of miniaturised Jeeps were present on Benjamin Lockwood's Jurassic Park Model in his home in California.

Production Notes

Jurassic Park

Pre-Production

Production

Three Jeep Wranglers (The 1992 Sahara Edition in Sand Beige) were purchased by Production for use in the film. Two automatics and one manual that would become the Hero Picture Jeep. The Hero Jeep was fitted camera mounts under the chassis, and custom tow hooks on the winch plate. Depending on the need, the vehicles were swapped around to represent a total of four different vehicles; JP 10, JP 12, JP 18 and JP 29. Upon the return to Los Angeles, one of the automatics was modified with a collapsible panel over the passenger side door to imitate being dented by the Tyrannosaur.

At the completion of Production, the Hero Jeep was dressed as JP 12 and one of the automatics as JP 10. The last dressing of the final Jeep is not known.

Jurassic World

Legacy

  1. Although obscured in the film, a lightbar was present on the vehicle during its first appearance in the Triceratops Paddock. It was likely removed in subsequent scenes as the windshield was to be destroyed in the chase with the Tyrannosaur.
