Ellie Sattler is a Doctor of Paleobotany. She, along with her boyfriend of the time Alan Grant, were invited to Jurassic Park on Isla Nublar to inspect the theme park following the Isla Nublar Incident. However an act of industrial sabotage crippled the park's security systems and allowing all of the animals to escape. She aided in restoring power to the park in order to evacuate the remaining survivors.
She would later separate from Grant and marry Mark Degler, becoming a successful author and starting a family. In 2001 she assisted in the rescue of Grant, his assistant Billy and the Kirby family from Isla Sorna.

Aftermath
In the years following the incident Sattler remained silent about what had transpired on the island, in contrast to Malcolm who's reputation was seemingly ruined by his attempts to out InGen. Sattler and Grant would eventually go their separate ways, and she would meet Mark Degler who she would eventually marry and start a family with in Washington D.C.. By 2001 she had two children, Charlie Degler and a newborn baby and was in the midst of publishing a book, pursuing a quote from renowned paleontologist Jack Horner.
