Dr Ellie Degler (née Sattler) is a Doctor of Paleobotany. She, along with her boyfriend of the time Alan Grant, were invited to Jurassic Park on Isla Nublar to inspect the theme park following the Isla Nublar Incident. However an act of industrial sabotage crippled the park's security systems and allowing all of the animals to escape. She aided in restoring power to the park in order to evacuate the remaining survivors.
She would later separate from Grant and marry Mark Degler, becoming a successful author and starting a family. In 2001 she assisted in the rescue of Grant, his assistant Billy and the Kirby family from Isla Sorna.
