Even before the release of Jurassic Park, Universal Studios began planning a theme park attraction based on the film. The first ride universe established was the Hollywood Park at Universal Studios Hollywood in 1996, quickly followed by the much larger Orlando Park at Universal's Islands of Adventure in 1999. Additional universes were created for Universal's parks in Japan and Singapore in 2001 and 2011 respectively.
